The idea is that this group, which met for the first time on 19^th May 2025, will run for about 12 months with the aim of getting people up to a level of proficiency in French that would enable them to join the Intermediate French group should they so wish. The group meets for one hour per week to work through a textbook (French in 3 Months, ISBN 978-0-2415-3627-8) which has an accompanying App. There is an expectation that members will undertake a modest amount of homework in between classes, and that anyone missing a class will use the book to catch up. The class is aimed at people who are beginners or who have learnt a modest amount of French in the distant past but forgotten it.

Anyone wishing to join the group part-way through the 12-month programme should contact Dermot Roddy in the first instance to discuss their current level of proficiency relative to the point that the programme has reached.
